A 35-year old man, Fwangmun Danung, has been sentenced to one year imprisonment in Plateau State for intimidating and insulting his biological father, Danung, by calling him a useless man for not providing him with money.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened in Jos Town, Plateau State, where they reside.
The jail term was the judgment of the Magistrate Court sitting in Jos, which jailed Fwangmun for gross misconduct on his biological father.
The Presiding Magistrate, Tapmwa Gotep, sentenced the defendant after he pleaded guilty to six months for intimidating his father without option of a fine and another six months for insulting his father with an option of N10,000 fine.
The prosecutor, Inspector Frank Alex, had earlier told the Court that the defendant had on 26th December, 2022, dragged his father out of the house and called him an irresponsible and useless man while he threatened to burn down the house if the father refused to “settle” him with N200,000.
The prosecutor further noted that the offence was punishable under Sections 377 and 379 of the Plateau State Penal Code Law.
The Presiding Magistrate found him guilty as charged and sentenced him accordingly to serve as deterrent to others who may want to try such in future.
