A 35-year old man, Umaru Jubrin, has landed in trouble after he allegedly caught the Chief Imam of Enagi town in Niger State, Alhaji Attahiru Alhassan, having sex with his second wife, Aisha and stabbed him to death.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that he has been arrested by the Police and may likely be charged for murder and may spend the rest of his life in prison custody if he is found guilty before the Court.

The Police alleged that Jubrin caught the 48-year old Imam, Alhassan, with his wife in bed in a neighbour’s house and killed him out of anger.

Jubrin, who was paraded at the Police Headquarters in Minna in Niger State on Tuesday, said on the day he caught the Chief Imam, Alhassan and his wife, he had walked past him into a neighbour’s house. Almost at the same time, he said his wife told him she was going to the toilet behind the compound and he did not see her for about an hour. So, he decided to go searching for her and he heard her voice in the neighbour’s house.

Jubrin explained that he became aggravated when the Chief Imam called him for dialogue over the incident and was not ready to take any blame that he did something wrong.

“In the course of the discussion, things became heated; we argued with each other and I forcefully collected the iron rod, which was with Alhaji Alhassan and stabbed him in the neck,” he said.

After Jubrin had stabbed the Imam, he took to his heels but was apprehended at Batati Village in Lavun Local Government area, where youths of Enagi town mobilised to the Police Station in an attempt to lynch him, forcing operatives to take him to the Police Headquarters in Minna.

When he was paraded, Jubrin said that he regretted his action as he did not know it will lead to the Imam’s death.

This was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, who said the suspect confessed he killed the Imam in the bout of anger.
The PPRO said that the suspect will be charged before Court after the conclusion of investigation.
