Man, 36, Remanded In Custody  For Forcefully Engaging House Maid, 23 In Sex

A 36-year old man, David Luke, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for deceiving and engaging a 23-year old house maid in sex after fondling and sucking her breasts to get her confused. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, David Luke, has been arrested and charged for statutory rape under the Criminal Laws of the State.
The incident happened at his house located at Robert Street in Magodo Phase 2 area of Lagos, where he resides.
According to the Police, the man introduced the victim to his friend as house maid in his area, where she started working as house help.  However, on 16th December,2024, the suspect invited her to his house. She did not suspect anything and went to meet him.  He was alleged to have started touching and fondling her breasts and she attempted to resist it, he started sucking her breasts and forcefully engaged her in sex.
Having satisfied himself,  he allowed her to go. But by then he victim had realized herself and was angered by his conduct. The victim reported the matter to the Police at Isheri Division and Luke was arrested and transferred to the Gender Section of the Lagos State Police Command for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
The Police found him culpable after interrogation and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charge read:
“That you, David Luke ‘m’ on the 16th day of December 2024, at Robert reet. Magodo – Phase 2, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did rape the victim ‘f 23years old, by having forceful carnal knowledge of her without her consent and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 260 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the Prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice.
The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
