Man, 37, Docked For Battering Wife During Public Brawl

A 37-year old man, Talabi Samuel, has displayed his boxing prowess in Lagos State by battering his wife, Amoko Ifeoluwa and inflicting injury on her body during a public brawl. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 18th August, 2024, at Abule-Egba area of Lagos, where they reside.
He has been arrested and charged before the Court for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace and assault on the wife, Ifeoluwa.
According to the Police,  the man had a disagreement with the wife, which led to a physical fight between them. In the process, he rained blows and punches on the victim, which caused havoc in the compound before the neighbours rescued the victim.
The matter was reported to the Police at the Famiy Support Unit at Ikotun Division. The man was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor,  Inspector John Iberedem, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenije, granted him bail with sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the the correctional center at Kirikiri town, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
The charges read:
COUNT I: That you, Talabi Samuel ‘M’ on 18/8/2024 at about 2230hrs at No. 72b Old Ota Road, Abule-Egba Lagos State in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by causing havoc in the compound against one Amoko Ifeoluwa ‘F’ your legally married wife and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 168(d) of the Lagos State Criminal Law 2015.”
COUNT II: That you, Talabi Samuel ‘M’ on same date, time and place in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did unlawfully assault one Amoko Ifeoluwa ‘F’ your legally married wife, by giving her fist blows on her face and body which make her faint, and caused her bodily harm and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 173 of the Lagos State Criminal Law 2015.”
