Police operatives from the Gender Section of the Lagos State Command have arrested a 38-year old man, Alfred Samuel and his friend, Ikechukwu Obi, 29, for allegedly conspiring to gang rape his step daughter.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Truth and Peace Street, Jato Filling Station, Igboeleshin, Lagos, where they reside.
According to the Police, on the 21st February, 2025, the case of conspiracy/defilement was transferred from Okokomaiko Division to Gender Unit, Lagos State Police Command, reported by the victim’s mother on behalf of her daughter against Samuel Alfred, who was the victim’s step father and his friend, Ikechukwu Obi.
The complainant stated that from when the victims was 10years and 11years, the two men have been sleeping with her till when they did it to her together in October 2024.
Consequently, they were arrested and detained for interrogation over the alleged offence. They were found culpable after thorough interrogation and consequently charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read:
“That you, Alfred Samuel and Ikechukwu Obi, sometimes in October 2024, at Truth and Peace Street, Jato Filling Station, Doeleshin Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit: defilement and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal aws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
COUNT II:”That you, Alfred Samuel ‘m’ and Ikechukwu Obi ‘m’, on the same date and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did defile the victim by having sexual intercourse with her and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
However,  the Court did not take their plea after the prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice because of the nature of the alleged offence.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.O.Tanimola, ordered their remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
