Man, 38, Remanded For Allegedly Stealing Spirit & Perfume At Supermarket

A 38-year old man, Chika Nonso, has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre after he was arraigned before the Ogba Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing spirit and perfume worth N129,960 from a supermarket in Alagbado area of Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 11th April, 2026, at AIT Road, Omoregie Junction, Alagbado, where the Emmatos Supermarket is located.
The Police did not disclose if the defendant was caught with the aid of CCTV camera mounted in the supermarket or security men on duty.
According to the Police, the defendant, Nonso, allegedly stole one bottle of Martell Blue Swift spirit valued at N82,600, one OUD for Glory perfume valued at N31,700, and one Matelet EAU perfume valued at N15,660, all belonging to Emmatos Supermarket worth the said amount.
The prosecution said that the act contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.
When the charge was read in court, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the allegation.
The prosecutor, Supol Philip Ademigbuji, asked the court to adjourn the matter for hearing to allow the Police to present evidence to prove that the defendant committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted the defendant bail with two sureties.
The Court ordered that the sureties must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment. Their addresses are also to be verified by the court before the bail can be perfected.
The defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
The defendant risks several years of imprisonment if he is eventually found guilty as charged.
