Man, 40, Arrested For Stealing N12m Mercedes Benz SUV At GSK Motors

A 40-year old man, Adeyinka Adebimpe has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stealing N12m Mecedese Benz SUV at GSK Motors  belonging to the owner, Tunde Faleye, under false pretence. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at the GSK Motors at Eleganza Mall, VGC area of Lagos.

 

The alleged scam was said to have backfired as he was caught after he had already obtained the money from the victim and was handed over to the Police for interrogation over his alleged conduct.

He was found culpable during the investigation and charged before the Yaba Magistrate Court for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace, obtaining under false pretence and stealing.

 

The charges read:

COUNT I: “That you, Adeyinka Adebimpe ‘M’ and others at large, on sometime in the month of June, 2023 at about 3:15pm at GSK Motors, KIm30 Eleganza mall, V.G.C Lagos, in Lagos State Magisterial District, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit: Conspiracy and Stealing. Obtaining money by False Pretence, and Conduct likely to cause breach of peace and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria. 2015.”

 

COUNT II: “That you, Adeyinka Adebimpe ‘M’ and others at large, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did by false pretence and with intent to defraud obtained one Mercedes Benz CLA 250, 2014 model, silver colour valued Twelve Million Naira (N12,000,000,00) from one Tunde Faleye ‘M’ and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 314(1) (a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria. 2015.”

 

COUNT III: “That you, Adeyinka Adebimpe ‘M’ and others at large, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did steals one Mercedes Benz CLA 250, 2014 model, silver colour valued Twelve Million Naira (12,000,000,00) property of one Tunde Faleye ‘M’ and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 287(5) (a) (b)of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria. 2015.”

 

COUNT IV: “That you, Adeyinka Adebimpe M’ and others at large, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace at GSK Motors, KIm 30 Eleganza mall, V.G.C, Lagos and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 168(1) (d) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria. 2015.”

 

He pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Supol Thomas Nurudeen, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. P.E. Nwaka, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
