A 40-year old man, Akinwande Oluwaseyi, has been arrested and charged for allegedly engaging and defiling his 14-year old daughter in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Awodunmila Elepe area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, where they reside.
The Police alleged that the suspect lured the daughter and forcefully engaged her in the act in 2022 but warned her not to tell anyone about what happened and she kept it to herself.
However, when she was unable to bear the trauma any longer, she revealed what happened and the matter was reported to the Police in the area. The father was arrested and later transferred to the Gender Section of the Police Command for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After rounds of interrogation at the Gender Section, the Police found him culpable for incest and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, asking the Court to give a date and refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenije, ordered his remand in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 5th September, 2023, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction
