A 40-year old man, Oluwaseyi Ogunwale, has been arrested for allegedly hacking into the Facebook account of the Lagos Chairman of NURTW,  Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, to defraud innocent people over Covid-19 palliative allowance in Lagos.

P.M EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Ogunwale, was tracked by the Police operatives from the Monitoring Unit, Ikeja, Lagos and charged before the Court for fraud and was remanded in Correctional Centre over the scam.

According to Police sources, Ogunwale hacked into MC Oluomo’s Facebook account requesting innocent people to forward their account numbers for Covid-19 palliative allowance, which was false, rather a ploy to defraud the victims.

The Police further discovered that Ogunwale was also obtaining money from innocent people for VIP tags, face cap and polo shirt bearing MC Oluomo Peace Competition for 2020.

The suspect, Ogunwale, was subsequently charged before Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged fraud and falsely presenting himself as Oluomo in his Facebook account.

He pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Mr. Kenrich Nomayo, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.O. Fajana, granted Ogunwale bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions while the matter was adjourned.
