Man, 41, Docked For Stealing Neighbour’s Ram For Sallah Celebration

Police operatives from the Isheri Oshun Division, Lagos State, have arrested a 41-year old man, Abdulfatai Olagunju, for stealing after he allegedly went at night and stole his neighbour’s ram, which he intended to use for the Sallah celebration.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Kedeibu Estate, Ijegun area of Lagos, where they reside.
The owner of the ram, Murphy Chinedu had the nasty experience when he returned home and started looking for it not knowing that the suspect, Olajunju, had gone where he kept the ram and stolen it while claiming that he bought the ram from the market for the Sallah celebrations.
However, while the owner of the ram was searching for it, information came that the suspect hid the ram inside his room and he was then accosted over the missing ram.
The matter was reported to the Police; he was arrested and detained for interrogation. While being interrogated, he eventually confessed to have stolen the ram for Sallah celebrations.
The Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Isolo Magistrates Court for stealing.
He pleaded not guilty before the Court when he was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Inspector M. Solomon, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.I. Williams, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood.
The matter was adjourned till 24th August, 2022, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
