Police operatives from Lagos State Command have arrested a 42-year old man, Rafiu Jimoh, for allegedly engaging his 5-year old daughter in sex.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Abeokuta Street, Egbeda area of Lagos, where they reside.

The Police alleged the suspect to have lured the girl into the act when other members of the family were not around, engaged her in sex and warned her not to disclose what happened to anyone.

However, she was unable to hide it for long after the mother was said to have noticed changes in her private part and asked her who did it and she mentioned her father.

The matter was reported to the Police and the man was arrested. He was later transferred to the Gender Section of the Command for interrogation.
After thorough interrogation, he was found culpable over the alleged act and subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.

When he was arraigned, the Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Supol Bisi Ogunleye, asked the Court to to refer the matter to the DPP for advice since the victim is still a minor.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubeinje, ordered his remand in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice. She directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP while the matter was adjourned till 27th April, 2022, for report of the DPP to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
