Man, 42, Docked For Battering Wife Over Alleged Defilement Of Their Daughter

A 42-year old man, Emmanuel Emeruwa, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly battering his wife, Nneka, after she allegedly caught him defiling their biological daughter. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the man has been arrested and charged for the alleged defilement and assault.
 The incident happened at Citirine Street, Diamond Estate area of Lagos, where they reside.
According to the Police, the man attacked and attempted to strangle his wife after she allegedly caught him molesting their daughter. She confronted him and her action angered him.
Apart from that, he equally threatened to kill his embattled wife, which made her to flee from home with the victim and as well prompted her to write a petition to the Commissioner of Police over his conduct.
The matter was referred to the Gender Section of the Lagos State Police Command and he was subsequently arrested and detained for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable for assaulting his wife and defiling their daughter and then charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice because of the seriousness of the alleged offence.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O, Osunsanmi, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
