Man, 42, Pushes Wife From Storey Building During Public Fight

A 42-year old man, Austin Anthony, did the unthinkable in Lagos State by attacking and assaulting his housewife, Ifeyinwa Anthony and throwing her from a storey building over feeding matters during a public fight. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 8th September, 2022, at Ajibade Street, Baruwa area of Ipaja, Lagos, where they reside.
The wife, Ifeyinwa, is lying critically ill at an undisclosed hospital because she broke her one of her legs and their three-month old baby was also injured in the process.
She received a shocking response from her husband, Austin Anthony, after asking him to live up to his responsibilities as husband by providing for their family.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the 42-year old husband, Austin, responded by assaulting his wife, Ifeyinwa and causing serious injury on their three-month old baby’s arm.
The husband, Austin, has been arrested and subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged assault, threat to life and causing grievous harm on the wife and their baby.
When he was arraigned before the Court, the prosecutor, Supol Raji Akeem, told the Court that a fight ensued between the defendant and his wife, Ifeyinwa, over failure of the man to accept his responsibility as a husband and the father to their children.
Supol Akeem said that the defendant forcefully removed their three-month old baby from the back of her mother and in the process the baby had a dislocation on her arm while the defendant beat up the complainant and pushed her from a storey building to the ground.
“This caused her legs to be broken and she sustained severe injuries on her body yet the defendant threatened to kill his wife with a kitchen knife an offence which contravene Sections 56, 172, 245 and 246 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.” he said.
However, defendant pleaded not guilty.
The Presiding Chief Magistrate, B. O. Osunsanmi, granted him bail in the sum N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood.
The matter was adjourned till 2nd November, 2022 for mention while the defendant was remanded in the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
