A 42-year old man, Oluwaseye Israel, has been arrested and charged before the Court in Lagos State for stabbing a 45-year old woman, Nkechi Onyeacjiolem, to death.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Car Wash, Meiran area of Lagos.
According to the Police,  the man and the deceased had a disagreement over an undisclosed matter, which led to hot exchange of words. In the process,  the man, Israel, broke a bottle and stabbed her.
She was said to have bled profusely and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital, where the Doctors certified her dead and her corpse was deposited at the mortuary for autopsy reports.
The matter was reported to the Police at Meiran Division and the defendant was arrested and later transferred to the SCID, Yaba, Lagos for further investigation over his conduct.
After investigation,  the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ebute Metta Magistrate Court for the alleged offence under Section 222 of the Criminal Code.
However, the Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned after the prosecutor, Supol Chinalu Uwadione, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice because of the nature of the alleged offence.
The Court ordered his remand in custody at the correctional centre pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The DPP’s advice will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
