Police operatives from Alakuko Division, Lagos, have arrested a 43-year old man, Jeremiah Agbaje, for allegedly molesting a 12 months old baby by inserting his finger into her private part and he was caught.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Omorege Street, AIT, Kola in Alagbado area of Lagos, where they reside.

The Police alleged that the suspect, Agbaje, lured the little baby, removed her pant and then started inserting his finger into her private part in order to satisfy his sexual desire.

However, while in the act, he was caught and handed over to the Police. At the Police Station, he admitted that he only checked her private part and did not penetrate her during the act.

He was subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.

His plea was not taken following the motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Bisi Ogunleye, that the matter be referred to the DPP for advice.

Thus, the Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenje, did not take his plea but ordered his remand without an option of bail. The Court also directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.

The matter was adjourned for the report of the DPP to be available while the defendant was remanded in the Correctional Centre pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice.

However, following the lockdown, the Court had been unable to sit for the hearing.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the matter may be transferred to the High Court if the DPP finds him culpable and recommends for his trial for the alleged offence.
