A 43-year old man, Abiodun Oladapo, has landed in trouble in Ogun State after he allegedly engaged his 19-year old daughter in sex, impregnated her and then forced her to implicate another man before he was exposed.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Police operatives from Ogun State Command have arrested Oladapo and detained him for interrogation over the alleged dastardly act.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed that the suspect was in Police custody.
SP Oyeyemi stated that the suspect, Oladapo, was arrested on 24th March, 2023, following a complain lodged at Mowe Divisional Police Headquarters by one Oluwatoyin Idowu, that her son, Michael Idowu, was wrongly accused of impregnating the man’s daughter.
Oyeyemi stated that upon the report, the victim, who is five months pregnant, was invited to the station for interrogation and she confided in the Police that though Michael Idowu slept with her in December 2022, it was her father who was responsible for her pregnancy.
She further explained that her father had been sleeping with her since February 2022 with a threat to kill her if she informed anybody about it and when he discovered that she was pregnant, Oladapo asked her to lie against Michael Idowu as being responsible for the pregnancy.
“Upon her confession, the Divisional Police Officer Mowe Police Division, SP Folake Afeniforo, detailed detectives to go after the randy father.”
“He was subsequently arrested and during interrogation, Oladapo confessed to the crime, but blamed it on the devil.”
The Police spokesman stated that preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect, who had long separated from the daughter’s mother, took custody of the girl when her mother remarried and they have been living together since then.
The Command’s Commissioner, CP Frank Mba, has directed that the suspect be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.
The suspect may likely be charged before the Court for the alleged offence but that will be after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
