Man, 43, Remanded For Engaging Neighbour’s Girl, 10, In Sex Romp

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ayedade Street, Harmony Estate, Ifako Ijaiye area of Lagos, where they reside.

According to the Police, the suspect lured the little girl into his room apartment, got her confused before he then engaged her in sex. And having satisfied himself, he allowed her to go but warned her not to tell anyone about it.

However, the act got exposed after the victim revealed what happened to her parents and thus, the matter was reported to the Police at Alakukuko Division. He was then arrested and detained for interrogation over the alleged offence.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted to have done so with the victim’s consent as such he did not rape her as claimed by her parents. But the Police found him culpable because the victim is still a minor under the law and consequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.

The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor,  DSP Kehinde Ajayi, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice because of the seriousness of the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenije ordered his remand in custody at the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
