Police operatives from the Gender Section of the Lagos State Command have arrested a 47-year old man, Johun Jester Gamoju, who had allegedly been sleeping with his 10-year old daughter.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Gamoju, was among the criminal suspects paraded by the Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, at the Police Command in Ikeja, Lagos.

The suspect admitted that he had been sleeping with his daughter since 2019 in their house at Ijanikin area of Lagos until sometime this year when the victim summoned courage and reported to the Police in the area.

Thus, the suspect was arrested and transferred to the Gender Section of the Command for further investigation and he confessed during interrogation.

This was disclosed by the Police boss, who confirmed that Gamoju was in Police custody undergoing interrogation over the dastardly act.

He said on 29th June, 2020, at about 1105 hours, a 10-year old girl (name withheld) of Olorunshogo Street, Pako Ijanikin, reported at Ijanikin Police Station that her father, John Jester Gamoju, ‘m’ 47, of same address had been having sexual intercourse with her since 2019.

The suspect was arrested by operatives from Gender Unit while the survivor was rescued and taken to hospital for medical treatment and forensic examination. It was also gathered that the victim did not disclose the act because of fear and was warned never to tell anyone about it. However, when she was unable to bear the trauma, she opened up and reported to the Police.

CP Odumosu said that the suspect will be charged to Court after the conclusion of investigation. The suspect risks spending several years in prison if he is charged before the Court for defilement and found guilty.
