A 48-year old trader, Samuel Amobi, has landed in trouble in Lagos after he allegedly tricked an 11-year old girl and engaged her in sex.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident took place at Bariga area of Lagos where they reside.

The suspect, Aminu, has been arrested and having been found culpable by the Police, he was charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

The Court did not take Amobi’s plea following a motion by the Prosecutor, ASP Bisi Ogunleye, that the matter be referred to the Director of Public Prosecution for advice.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Ejiro Kubenje, ordered his remand at the Correctional Centre without an option of bail and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice.
She adjourned the case till 24th September, 2020.

The defendant, Amobi, is being tried for defilement which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is found guilty before the Court.

The prosecutor, Ogunleye, had told the Court that the defendant committed the offence on 6th July, 2020, at his residence where he unlawfully had sexual intercourse with the girl after luring her into his apartment.
“He threatened to harm her if she tells anybody what he did to her but the girl told her mother everything.”
“The matter was reported to the Police before he was arrested, interrogated and found culpable and was subsequently brought to the Court” the prosecutor said.
