A 49-year old man, Ofoge Michael, has landed in trouble in Lagos State over alleged sex with his 17-year old daughter as the victim exposed him four years after and he is in Police net for prosecution.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Thumbline area of Ojo Barracks in 2018, when the daughter was still a minor and the alleged ugly incident was said to have traumatized her over the years.
She reported the matter to the Police at SCID, Yaba and the suspect, Ofoge Michael, was arrested and detained for interrogation over the conduct.
After thorough interrogation by Police operatives, he was found culpable over the alleged conduct on the victim.
Thus, he was charged before the Yaba Magistrates Court for statutory rape, which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty.
However, when he was arraigned, the Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Thomas Nurudeen, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. P.E. Nwaka, then ordered his remand in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned for report of the DPP’s advice to be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
