Man, 51, Docked For Engaging  Neighbour’s House Maid, 18, In Sex

A 51-year old man, Ndubisi Obah, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly engaging his neighbour’s 18-year house maid in sex before he was caught.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the victim’s boss, identified as Michael, alleged that the suspect, Obah, had forcefully engaged the victim in sex severally without her consent and thereby committed an offence considered as statutory rape.

 

The incident happened at Orasanya Street, Bucknor area of Ejigbo, Lagos.

 

The matter was reported to the Police at Ejigbo Division and the operatives moved into action. They arrested the suspect and transferred him to the Gender Section of the State Police Command for interrogation over his alleged conduct.

 

During interrogation, he admitted to have been engaging the house maid in sex but with her consent as they never had any disagreement since he started sleeping with her.

 

But the victim’s boss insisted that he intimidated and had sex severally with the victim without her consent before he eventually became aware and reported to the Police.

 

The Police found the suspect culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence under the Criminal Laws of the State.

 

The charge read: That you, Ndubuisi Obah ‘m’ on 3rd May, 2024 at about 1300hrs. at Onasanya Street, Bucknor area of Ejigbo Lagos, in the Lagos State Magisterial District, did have unlawful sexual intercourse with the victim thereby committed an offence contrary to the provisions of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

 

The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Inspector John Iberedem, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice because of the nature of the alleged offence. .

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenije, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s legal advice advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
