It was like a period of atrocities for a 52-year old man, Igwemba Chukwunonso, who allegedly defiled a 13-year old girl, impregnated her and induced several abortions on her before he was caught after three years when the girl was 15 in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports the incident happened at Okito area of Olodi Apapa, Lagos, where they reside.
The suspect, Chukwunonso, has been arrested.
He is said to be cooling his head at the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, having started molesting the victim from 2018 by inserting his fingers into her private part to open it for penetration.
When he eventually opened her private part, he started defiling her and instilled fear into her not to tell anyone about it and she kept it to herself.
He was said to have continued the abuse on her till December 2021 when he impregnated her and bought several drugs for her to abort the pregnancy.
However, there were complications, the whole thing got exposed and the matter was reported to the Police at Ilupeju Division and Chukwunonso was arrested and detained for Interrogation over the dastardly act.
During investigation, the girl revealed what happened and how she had been a sex slave for Chukwunonso for the past three years with several abortions before the last one, which eventually exposed him.
Having been found culpable, the Police subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is found guilty after trial before the Court.
However, when he was arraigned, the Court did not take his plea following a motion by the prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. A. Ajayi, ordered his remand in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s report and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 27th February, 2022, for the report of the DPP to be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
