Man, 53, Remanded For Inserting Finger Into Private Part Of 7-Year Old Daughter

A 53-year old man, Bitrus Daniyan, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly sexually molesting his 7-year old biological daughter by inserting his finger into the private part. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Daniyan, has been arrested and charged defilement over his alleged conduct on the victim.

 

The incident happened in June at Military Zone C, Nominee Estate, Ajah area of Lagos, where they reside.

 

According to the Police, the man’s wife died and he started living with the victim. He was said to have molested her severally before the sister to his late wife decided to take custody of the victim for proper care.

 

Trouble started when the late wife’s sister discovered that something like pus was coming out from girl’s private part and she was feeling pains inside. She then asked the victim what happened and the girl told her that it was her father that was inserting his finger inside it and injured her in the process.

 

The matter was reported to the Police in the area and the man was arrested. From there, he was transferred to the Gender Section of the Command for interrogation over his alleged conduct.

 

After rounds of interrogation at the Gender Section, the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.

The charge read:

“That you, Bitrus Daniyan ‘m’, sometimes in the month of June 2024, at No. 25. Military Zone ‘C’ Nominee Estate, Ajah Lagos the Lagos Magisterial District, did insert your finger into the vagina of your daughter, one Jemimah Daniyan ‘f 7years old by and mereby committed an offence punishable under Section 261 the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

 

The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Inspector John Iberedem, asking the Court to give a date and refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenije, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.

 

The matter was adjourned till 15th October, 2024, for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
