Man, 54, Remanded In Custody Over Sex With Neighbour’s Girl, 12

A 54-year old man, Kajola Ahmed, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly luring and engaging his neighbour’s 12-year old girl in sex. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Ahmed, has been arrested and charged for defilement under the Criminal Laws of the State over his alleged conduct.
The incident happened at  28, Tomatee Hotel Street, Ajegunle in the Ita-Oluwo area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, where they reside.
According to the Police, the suspect lured the victim into his apartment and engaged her in sex. And having satisfied himself, he allowed her to go. But the act leaked to the victim’s parents, who confronted her and she revealed what happened.
The matter was reported to the Police in the area. He was subsequently arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over the  alleged conduct.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and then charged him before the Ikorodu Chief Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which contravened the provisions of Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol  Aminu Isaac, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The Chief Magistrate, B.A. Sonuga, ordered the defendant to be remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s legal advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 27th February, 2025, for the report of the DPP’s advice to be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
