A 57-year old man, Ibrahim Abdullahi, has been arrested for allegedly attempting to eliminate his blood sister, Hajia Zainab Abdullahi, after he defrauded her to the tune of N84m in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Abdullahi Street, Moricas, Agege area of Lagos State, where they reside.
The suspect, Ibrahim, was said to have obtained the money from his sister, who equally collected more money, added to her own before she gave to Ibrahim for an undisclosed purpose and he promised to give her back within a certain period.
However, when it was time to return the money, he reportedly resorted to intimidation, threatening and planning to eliminate her with his accomplice, Jamiu Odesanya, who is now at large.
The matter was reported to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police through a petition and the case was referred to SIB, Police Command, Ikeja, for investigation.
Thus, the suspect, Ibrahim, was arrested and detained for interrogation over his conduct. While being interrogated, he admitted that he obtained the money from the complainant but had no money to refund her.
The Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for conspiracy and stealing, which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is found guilty before the Court.
He pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty before the Court to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Layinka, granted him bail and ordered his remand in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
The matter was adjourned till 13th April, 2023, for mention.
