A 60-year old man, Onakoya Emmanuel, has landed in trouble after he reportedly burgled Redeemed Christian Church of God (Peculiar Parish) in Ayobo, Lagos and carted Church properties.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Emmanuel, has been arrested by Police operatives.
According to Police sources, the suspect was said to have gone to the church in the early hours of 19th June, 2022 and burgled the church. In the process, he carted away some items including Plasma TV and musical equipment and escaped.
When the management went to the Church in the morning, it was discovered that the church was burgled and those items stolen, so they went to the Police at Ayobo Division and reported the incident.
Hence, the Police moved into action and later arrested Emmanuel. He was detained at the station for interrogation over the alleged conduct of stealing in the house of God.
After thorough interrogation and having been found culpable, the Police charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for conspiracy and stealing.
He pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Inspector Akinleye Funmilola, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty before Court to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Folashade Hughes, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and payment of tax.
The matter was adjourned while the defendant was remanded in the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
