A 63-year old man, Paul Oloyede, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s 15-year old girl.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Boladele Bolaji Oshim Ishefun area of Ayobo, Lagos, where they reside.
According to the Police,  the suspect was alleged to have defiled the girl when she was much younger and wanted to continue the dastardly act before the victim exposed him and informed her parents about what the suspect, Oloyede, had done to her and had wanted to continue the act by carousing her breasts in order to lured her into the act.
The matter was reported to the Police at Family Support Unit at Ipaja Division and the suspect was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After being thoroughly interrogated and having been found culpable, he was consequently charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for indecent assault and defilement, which attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.
However, the Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor,  Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice because of the nature of the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Layinka, ordered the defendant to be remanded in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when the DPP’s report will be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
