Man, 63, Sent To Prison For Burgling Church & Carting Away Property Worth N5m

A 63-year old man, Ayantunde Anthony, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly burgling a church and carting away property worth N5m. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Zephzebra Church located at Olayemi Road by Bakery Bus Stop, Ayobo area of Lagos.
The Police alleged the suspect to have invaded the church and carted away the items including musical equipment, fans, LG television and others worth the said amount and escaped.
When the management got to the church and saw what happened, they reported the matter to the Police at Ayobo Division. The operatives moved into action, eventually arrested the suspect, Anthony and detained him for interrogation over the alleged act.
After rounds of interrogation, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
However,  he pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment payment.
The defendant was remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions while the matter further adjourned for mention.
Meanwhile, the Police were said to be on the manhunt for his accomplice, who is on the run in order to have them prosecuted over their alleged conduct.
