Man, 64, Beaten To Death During Squabble With Lover

Police Operatives from the Lagos State Police Command have  arrested two women, Ngozi Emezue, 38 and Juliet Eguebor, 35, for the alleged killing a 64-year old Osita Anwuanwu during a squabble at a bar. 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Arida area of Ikotun Lagos State on 8th April, 2021, at 8.45pm, where the bar is located, which is owned by one of the suspects, Ngozi Emezue.

This was disclosed by the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, at the State Police Command, Ikeja, Lagos.

The Police stated that the daughter of the deceased, Linda Anwuanwu ‘f’ of Temitope Street, off Governor’s Road, Ikotun, Lagos State, reported to the Police at Ikotun Division that she was informed that her father, Osita Anwuanwu (m) 64, of same address, was lying down in a bar at Arida area after he had a misunderstanding with one Ngozi Emezue, f, 38, and Juliet Eguebor, f, 35.

Hence, the Police operatives at Ikotun Division led by CSP Johnson Adagba, raced to the scene and rescued the deceased to the General Hospital, Igando, where he was certified dead.

The corpse was deposited at the mortuary for autopsy report while the two suspects linked with the alleged murder, Ngozi and Juliet, were arrested and detained for interrogation over the death.

Police preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased had gone to check his lady friend, Juliet, who he had not seen for some time, at Ngozi’s bar. it was there he engaged the duo in a hot argument and physical assault before he slumped.

The two suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, for proper investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Mr. Osita Anwuanwu as directed by the Commissioner of Police.

The suspects may be charged before the Court for culpable homicide, which attracts life or several years of imprisonment if they are charged and found guilty before the Court for the alleged offence.
