Man Arrested For Hiding Hard Drugs Inside Bread For Criminal In Police Cell

A 31-year old man, Matthew Asuqor, has landed in trouble in Lagos State over attempt to smuggle hard drugs to give to a suspected criminal, Michael Ola, inside the Police cell by hiding the drugs inside bread.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Area G Command, Ogba, Lagos, where the Police apprehended the suspect.
He has therefore, been charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace and being in possession of illicit substance suspected to be drugs inside a loaf of bread to give to a suspect inside the cell.
The suspect ran out of luck as the Police officer on duty that day discovered, promptly arrested him and detained him in the cell for the alleged conduct.
According to sources, the suspect, Asuqor, was informed about the arrest of Ola for an undisclosed criminal offence and he bought the drugs and hid inside the bread to give to him.
However, he pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned in Court.
The prosecutor, Lucky Ihiehie, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Layinka, granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.
The matter was adjourned till 15th April, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
