Man Arrested For S*xually Molesting Girl, 6

A man, Uchenna Clifford, has landed in trouble in Lagos after he allegedly lured his neighbour’s 6-year old girl and sexually molested her by inserting fingers into her private part for sexual satisfaction.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Olokodana Street, Amukoko area of Lagos, where they reside.

According to Police sources, the suspect, Clifford, returned from work in the evening and lured the girl into his apartment, where he removed her pant and inserted his fingers into her private part repeatedly.

Having satisfied himself, he allowed her to go while warning her not to tell anybody what happened. But when the girl left his room, she told her mother what happened and the matter was reported to the Police in the area.

The Police then arrested Clifford and later transferred him to the Gender Section of the Police Command for further investigation.
At the Gender Section, he reportedly confessed but denied penetrating her.

After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for penetration with fingers.

The Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Supol Ezekiel Ayorinde, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O Osunsanmi, ordered his remand in Correctional Centre without an option of bail and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.

The defendant, Clifford, was remanded in prison custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice, which will determined if the matter will be transferred to the High Court over jurisdiction.

The matter had stalled due to the Covid-19 lockdown which had made the Court not to sit for a new date for hearing on the matter.
