Man Arrested While Using Phone To Record Proceedings In Court

A Man, Akeem Yusuf, who went to the Court and was ignorantly recording proceedings inside Court room, has landed in trouble after he was caught in the act in Lagos State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at the Ojo Magistrates Court, where the suspect, Yusuf, tried recording the Presiding Magistrate, who was handling a matter before the Court. 

However, while he was recording the proceedings, the security men on duty caught him. He was immediately arrested for interrogation over his conduct having seized his phone. 

During interrogation, the Police discovered that he was actually recording the proceedings inside the Court having found evidence on his phone and asked him to know why he did so. 

He pleaded that he did not know it was an offence as he did so out of ignorance and promised that he will not do so in future. 
The Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ojo Magistrates Court for the alleged offence. 

He pleaded not guilty. 

The prosecutor, Inspector Ekpo Edet, then asked the Court to give a short date for hearing to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence, for which he was brought to Court. 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T. A. Popoola, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum. 

He was however, remanded in custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 8th May, 2022, for mention.
