A 35-year old man, Bernard Abia has been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for allegedly attacking his landlady, Hajara Bello after he was allegedly caught peeping at her while she was taking her bath.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Mohammed Akije Street in Ejigbo Lagos where both the suspect and the victim reside.

The angry landlady rushed out of the bathroom, attempted to hit him but was overpowered by Abia who used a hammer to hit her to submission.

The matter was reported to the Police at Ejigbo Division and Abia was arrested and charged for assault.

According to the landlady, she said whenever she and her daughters went to the only bathroom in the compound, Abia will come out from his room, hide and will be peeping at them.

She said he has been caught several times and warned against doing such but he continued.

She said she was willing to forgive him but only on the condition that he will have to park out from the house, even though his rent has not expired.

But when Abia spoke to P.M.EXPRESS, he denied the allegation insisting that it was only a ploy by the victim to eject him and bring another tenant.

He maintained that he could not have done such even though he was not yet married, that he had a  girlfriend who always visited him.

However, Abia was arraigned before Isolo Magistrates court for the alleged offence and he pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, Mr A.O. Ogbe granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.

He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect the bail condition.

The matter was adjourned till 12 July 2017.
