Man Docked For Inserting Finger Inside Girl, 5, Private Part

A young man, Chidera Onwe, may spend several years in prison custody after he allegedly inserted his finger into the private part of a 5-year old girl in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Onwe, has been arrested for penetrating the girl’s private part with his finger, which is statutory rape.

The incident happened at Ajose Street, Mende, Maryland area of Lagos, where they reside.

The Police alleged that Onwe lured the victim into an apartment, removed her pant and put his finger into her private part.
Having satisfied himself, he allowed her to go but the girl was said to have exposed him by telling her parents what he did to her.

The matter was reported to the Police and Onwe was arrested and taken to the Gender Section of the Command for interrogation, where he was said to have denied that he had sex with her but merely touched her private part.

But the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for sexual assault on the girl.
The Court did not take his plea after the Prosecutor, Supol Bisi Ogunleye, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.

Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubeinje, ordered his remand in Correctional Centre and directed the Prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the defendant may likely be transferred to the High Court if the DPP finds him culpable for the alleged offence of rape where he will be tried.
