Man Duped After Paying N50k For A Toyota Camry Car

A man, Eklou James has been duped after he negotiated to buy and paid N50,000 for a Toyota Camry Car belonging to a customer from panel beater but ended up losing both the money and the car.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the value of the car is N900,000. The incident happened on 6 October 2016 at the panel beater Gbolagade Agboola’s workshop in Ikotun Area of Lagos, Nigeria. The matter was reported to the police at Ikotun division and Agboola was arrested and taken to the station.
He was charged before a Lagos court with fraud and stealing under the Criminal Code.
On interrogation, Agboola said he was approached by James who asked him to sell the Camry in his workshop to him for N120,000 whereas he knew the value market and that the car did not belong to him.
According to him, he knew that James had criminal intention by asking him to sell another person’s car knowing his his financial problem. He admitted that he asked him to pay the money and he brought only N50,000 which he collected.
He said he went and informed the owner of the car who later came to collect his car.
Agboola said he decided not to refund the money to him because he knew James wanted to tempt him so he can sell another man’s car to him.
At the station, he confessed he collected the money and had spent it because James had criminal intent by tempting him to sell his customer’s car.
At the Ejigbo Magistrate’s court where he was arraigned, he pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs J.O.E Adeyemi granted Agboola bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail.
The matter was adjourned till 31 October 2016.
