Man Generates Own Electricity Bill To Defraud Consumers in Lagos

A 39-year old man, Fatukasi Sunday has landed in prison after he allegedly generated his own electricity bill to defraud consumers in Lagos.
He was arrested and charged before a Lagos court for fraud and remanded in prison custody.
The incident happened at Akimade Akintador Street off Allen Avenue in Ikeja, Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Sunday’s journey to prison started after he presented a forged electricity bill of N35,000 and presented it to one Ernest Uwanyere and disconnected his light to force him to pay the bill to him.
However, Uwanyere who had reportedly paid his bill went to the electricity company to verify the bill Sunday brought to him.
It was then discovered that he forged the bill and he was handed over to the police for investigation.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that during investigation at Ikeja Police Division, it was also discovered that Sunday had been generating electricity bills to consumers. He reportedly confessed that he was not a staff of any electricity company and admitted that he generated the bill by himself.
He was charged before Ikeja Magistrates court for impersonation and forgery under the Criminal Code.
He pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs O.A. Layinka granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
