Man Loses N28m To Fake Native Doctors Over Failed Spiritual Deliverance

A 28-year old man, Lateef Oladigbolu, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly conspiring with fake native doctors and obtaining N28m from a victim, Adelakin Saheed, in order to purportedly deliver him from some spiritual problems, which turned out to be a scam. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Oladigbolu, has been arrested and charged for the alleged conspiracy and fraud.

 

According to the Police, the suspect had been taking the victim to several native doctors for several years between between 2021 and 2024 and continued to extort money from him under the false pretence of offering him some spiritual prayers.

 

However, trouble started after the victim discovered that the undisclosed challenges he had which prompted him to contact the native doctors in the first place worsened without solution.

 

The residents alleged that Oladigbolu contacted the victim that he had many native doctors who will pray for him and do some spiritual exercises that will deliver him from undisclosed spiritual problems.

 

The victim believed and gave the money to Oladigbolu, who after collecting the money, arranged some people he claimed to be native doctors for deliverance prayers.

 

However, as the prayers seem not to work, he later realized that he had been duped and he asked Oladigbolu to refund him the money but he started threatening to kill him.

 

The matter was reported to the Police at Oke-Oba Division. He was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over the alleged fraud.

 

The charges read:

COUNT 1: that you, Lateef Oladigbolu ‘M’ and others now at large on the 15th of December 2021, 21″ of September 2022, 24th of February 2022, 18th of April 2024 at about 12-14:00Hrs at Kollington Bus Stop, Alagbado, Lagos in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did conspire to commit felony to wit obtaining money under false pretences and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 411 of criminal laws of Lagos State 2015.”

 

COUNT II: that you, Lateef Oladigbolu ‘M’and others now at large on the same dates, time and place at the aforementioned Magisterial District, did conduct yourselves in a manner to cause breach of peace by taking one Adelakin Saheed ‘M’ to the midst of herbalists for prayers and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 174 of criminal laws of Lagos State, 2015.”

 

COUNT III: that you, Lateef Oladigbolu ‘M’and others now at large on the same dates, time and place at the aforementioned Magisterial District, did obtained the sum of N28, 000, 000 (Twenty Eight Million Naira) from one Adelakin Saheed ‘M’ under false pretences to pray for him knowingly that all what you did are false and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 314 of criminal laws of Lagos State 2015.”

 

COUNT IV: that you Lateef Oladigbolu ‘M’and others now at large on the same dates, time and place at the aforementioned Magisterial District, did threaten to kill one Adelakin Saheed ‘M’ and his family with charms if he reveals your secrets to anybody in the public and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 56 of criminal laws of Lagos State 2015.”

 

He pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Inspector John Iberedem, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenije, granted him bail in the sum of N2m with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned till 13th November, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when the defendant will perfect his bail conditions.
