Man Plucks Rival’s Eye With Broken Bottle

A 39-year old Sulaimon Ogunsanya has been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for using broken bottle to pluck off his rival, Emmanuel Odo’s eye during fight in Lagos.

The incident happened at Akesan area in the outskirts of Lagos where they reside. The victim, Odo now has one eye because the bottle damaged the eye badly and he cannot see with the eye again. P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the suspect had exchange of words over an undisclosed matter which resulted into a fight. It was during the fight that the suspect broke a beer bottle and used it to stab the victim on his eye and drew it.

The victim bled profusely as the affected eye came out. He fell down and was rushed to a hospital where the doctors were battling to save his life. P.M.EXPRESS gathered that before he was taken to Igando General Hospital and met the doctors, the affected eye was already damaged and could not be managed for him to use it to see.

The residents who witnessed what happened attempted to hold the suspect, but he forcefully escaped and went into hiding. However, the suspect was later arrested and detained at Igando Police Division where he confessed committing the act but said it was out of provocation.

He was thereafter charged before the Magistrates court sitting in Ejigbo for inflicting injury on the victim. When he was arraigned, he pleaded not guilty. The presiding Magistrate, Mr Akeem Fashola granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect the bail condition and the matter was adjourned till 18th of October, 2017.

While the suspect was being taken into custody, he said he did not know when he did that and had wanted to settle the matter with the victim out of the court.
