Man Damages Neighbour’s Cheek With Shovel In A Brawl

A man, Mr. Adebayo Popoola has suffered grievous injury and lost his cheek after his neighbour, Chimezie Ikediche, attacked him and used a shovel to inflict injury on his cheek during a public fight
.

The incident happened at Ijew area of Bucknor in Ejigbo area of Lagos where they resided.

The victim was seriously injured and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital where he was receiving treatment.

Residents wondered what would have caused the fight which made Mr. Ikediche to have used shovel to damage his neighbour’s cheek.

It was scooped that the suspect had disagreement with the victim over an undisclosed matter which later resulted to hot exchange of words and fighting.
It was during the fight that Ikediche took the shovel, attacked Popoola and inflicted injury on him.

The fight ended as Popoola was rushed to a hospital and the assault was reported to the police at Ejigbo Division.

Ikediche was arrested and charged before Ejigbo Magistrates court for assault.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Mr. G. Simon did not oppose his bail but asked the court to use its discretion on the bail because the victim was still receiving treatment
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.K.J. Layeni granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 25th July, 2018.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the defendant had realised his mistake and was said to have sought to resolve the matter with the victim out of court.
