A fight between two married women, Charity John and Stella Joseph, turned brutal in Lagos State as Charity hit Stella’s eye and inflicted serious injury on her in the process.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at No. 9, Makanjuola Street, Sari-Iganmu, Orile area of Lagos, where they reside.
The 39-year old Charity John has been arrested and charged before the Surulere Magistrate Court for allegedly biting Stella’s eye and inflicting injury on her.
The Police charged Charity John for conspiracy and assault under the Criminal Laws of the State.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Courage Ekhueorohan, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on 18th June, 2024, against the complainant, Stella Joseph and also bit her on the back and hand.
He explained that an argument broke out following the complainant’s warning to defendant’s son to stop playing with her daughter’s toy, which led to a disagreement between the defendant and the complainant and later led to physical fighting.
Ekhueorohan told the Court that the alleged offence contravened the provisions of Sections 173 and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant, Charity John, pleaded not guilty.
The Presiding Magistrate, O.O. Otitoju, granted the defendant to bail on self recognition because she is expected to write a letter of apology and pay the complainant’s hospital bills.
The matter was adjourned till 9th July, 2024, for mention.
