Marrying A Campbell Steals Show At Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival
Barely one week after Bridget John, star actress of ‘Marrying A Campbell’, a Nollywood film, won Best Actress award at the recently held Pan African International Film Festival in Cannes France, the yet to be released film has once again hit the entertainment limelight as it won nine out of ten nominations at the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival 2021 in Canada on Saturday.
The award ceremony was a moment of joy for the personalities involved in the making of Marrying A Campbell, a full-length feature film shot in Asaba, Delta State, south-south Nigeria, as they took turns to receive various categories of awards at the TINFF show.
Marrying A Campbell, a Twin Vision Film production, was a huge winner at the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival which was attended by filmmakers from all over the world.
The producer of the film, Ceasar Oruade, won the TINFF Jury award for Best Movie Producer – Africa, the Director, Ayana Saunders won two awards; Best Movie Director – Africa and Best Director.
Bridget John was again celebrated on the podium as the US-based Nigerian won the Best Actress – African Film award, while Hakeem Kae won the Best Actor and Best Actor- African Film awards
Marrying A Campbell was adjudged the Best Comedy Drama – Nollywood, Best First Feature (Africa) and Best Comedy Feature.
The Atlanta Georgia-based Bridget John, who directed and produced the celebrated award-winning Adora film, described the awards as honours all members of the crew are proud of.
“Thank you, Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival. We are so grateful, and congratulations on a successful festival. And thank you to all our cast and crew, without you this wouldn’t pull through. A win for one is a win for all, and with God’s wind may we continue to soar.
“The award is so amazing. It was something that I had never imagined. I am so excited to see a lot of people in the industry. This was a well-attended ceremony. I am excited that this film won nine awards out of the ten nominations we had. This is a film I played the lead role in. I thank God for this rare feat,” she said.
Other casts in the film, which will be due for release next year include Hakeem Kae-Kasim, Emmanuel Ikubese, Chelsea Eze, Barbara Soky, Yvonne Jegede, Barbara Ossai, Harry B, Bolanle Ninalowo, Frank D Don, Fiona Jite and Dave Ogbeni among others.
