Posted on May 1, 2026

The Group Chief Executive of Oando Plc, Adewale Tinubu, has congratulated Nigerian workers on the occasion of the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration, describing them as indispensable drivers of economic growth and national development.

In a statement released to commemorate the annual May Day celebration, Tinubu paid tribute to the resilience, dedication and unwavering commitment of workers across all sectors of the economy, noting that their daily contributions remain the backbone of progress in every thriving society.

He stated that labour remains the foundation upon which sustainable growth is built, adding that Oando’s continued success as one of Africa’s leading indigenous energy companies is closely tied to the commitment and professionalism of its workforce.

According to him, “Every system of growth is built on labour, and Oando’s strength is inseparable from the commitment of our people. Today, we celebrate those who move energy from the ground to the grid, keep operations running around the clock, and show up with unwavering dedication regardless of conditions.”

Tinubu noted that the Workers’ Day celebration also offers an opportunity for reflection and renewed responsibility by employers and institutions to create environments where workers can thrive, grow and contribute meaningfully.

He further stressed that Oando remains committed to building a workplace culture anchored on excellence, innovation, inclusiveness and respect for every member of staff.

The Oando helmsman also extended appreciation to workers beyond the organisation, acknowledging millions of Nigerians whose labour sustains businesses, institutions and communities across the country despite prevailing challenges.

He added, “As we celebrate the value of labour today, we also renew our obligation to build a workplace worthy of that commitment. Happy Workers’ Day to every member of the Oando family and to workers everywhere who keep the economy moving.”

Tinubu’s message resonates strongly at a time when the nation continues to look to its workforce as a critical pillar for economic recovery, productivity and long-term prosperity.
