Media Personalities In Entertainment Industry Don’t Get Due Credits —David Ikuuh

Posted on December 5, 2024
There are so many people contributing to the growth of the Nigerian music and entertainment industry, and one of such players that can’t be ignored are those who cover showbiz personalities and expose them to the outside world through their lenses.
One of such players is David Ovwiemedia Ikuuh, a highly creative photographer and videographer whose passion for the entertainment industry has enabled him to cover many A-list Nigerian showbiz stars.
The Dubai-based young media personality, whose craft and affiliation with top UK-based showbiz promoter, Billy Que has given him the opportunity to cover various top artistes such as Davido, Kizz Daniel, Ruger, Tekno, Omah Lay, Wande Coal, Bella Shmurda, Portable, Small Doctor, and some top Amapiano artistes stated that the Nigerian entertainment is fast gaining global recognition.
Sharing his views and perception of the Nigerian entertainment industry, he says, “The Nigerian entertainment has gone global and the industry is getting bigger and better daily. I will advise that the practitioners in the industry should let love live in the industry”.
Speaking about what drives him into the showbiz world and what inspired his interest in the music and entertainment industry, he stated that, “I have passion for the media and you know the only way to grow in the business is for you to get involved in the music and entertainment industry because they work together. And I was also fascinated by the glamour of the entertainment industry”.
Sharing his experience about working in Dubai and comparing it to Nigeria, he revealed how Dubai being a tourist destination and with high tech facilities has influenced the growth of the media and photography profession.
“Working as a photographer and videographer in Dubai pays more and better because we charge per hour for our coverage compared to full day in Nigeria and getting equipment abroad is far cheaper than in Nigeria. Again, the current economic challenges of Nigeria are big problems hindering growth” he added.
He also speaks about how media personalities are not getting due recognition in the industry for their contributions to the growth of the industry.
“The contributions of media men, especially the people who expose the industry through their works in photography and videography are not adequately being given due credits. Even it’s a problem crediting jobs done by people,” he said.
Ikuuh started his media career as a light man in 1998 with his elder brother Michael Ikuuh in Sapele, Delta State and later grew to become an international media personality who has worked with so many top politicians and celebrities in Nigeria and UAE.
