Posted on April 16, 2025

The Media Integrity Initiative Africa (MIIA) officially closed registration for its April 2025 Training Series on 31 March 2025 at 11:59 PM.

At the close of the window, over 190 individuals had registered to participate in the maiden edition of this year’s quarterly training programme.

After a thorough filtering process to identify committed participants, over 150 registrants were admitted into the official MIIA 2025 WhatsApp group. The group has since served as the primary hub for updates, mobilisation, and coordination.

With the approval of MIIA’s Board of Facilitators, the 1st MIIA Online Training launched successfully on Saturday, 12 April 2025. The training, hosted via Google Meet, ran from 11:00 AM to 3:35 PM and featured two robust sessions facilitated by highly respected professionals in the field:

  • Writing for Digital Media
    Facilitator: Dr. Tony Onyima, FNGE

  • Crisis Communication and Management
    Facilitator: Alex Ogundadegbe

Participants described the sessions as insightful, practical, and inspiring, with many calling for access to the presentation materials for further learning. Below are a few testimonials from attendees:

“The entire 56 slides by Dr. Tony Onyima are very incisive and instructive… it will be highly appreciated if the paper can be sent to the participants as a PDF document.”  –  Afolabi Faramade

“That was so insightful, informative, and educative by Dr. Tony Onyima.” – Amos Mcroy

“Thank you sir, Mr. Ogundadegbe, for your beautiful presentation.” — Gracious Akintayo

“Thanks so much for your brilliant presentation, sir.” — Olalekan Olagunju

The training continues on Saturday, 19 April 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM, with the following sessions:

  • The Art of Effective Presentation
    Facilitator: Tokunbo Ojekunle

  • Photography: The Critical Minimum
    Facilitator: Dr. Adeboye Ola

MIIA remains committed to providing free, high-quality media training across the continent.

The next free quarterly training is tentatively scheduled for July 2025, with registration expected to open in June.
