After 13 straight years of education and fun, the producers of the popular TV game show, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, announced the indefinite suspension of the show in Nigeria after telecommunications company, MTN reportedly pulled out as a sponsor.

The suspension was announced Sunday night in a series of tweets on the show’s official Twitter page @WWTBAM.

“Goodbyes are tough, aren’t they? @frankedoho’s final words as #WWTBAM begins a hiatus today is filled with so much emotions…Unfortunately, tonight’s episode is our last- for now. #WWTBAM is going on a temporal break,” the officials stated in some of the tweets announced that the show is effectively off air.

Also, Frank Edoho, who hosted the show since its inception, announced that the show is going on a temporary break.

“We thank you for being with us through the 13-year-journey of enriching and impacting the lives of Nigerians. We wouldn’t have been able to enrich so many Nigerians without the help of our sponsor @MTNNG  So we say THANK YOU! For the first time since its inception 13 years ago, #WWTBAM will be going off air from today 25th June” he tweeted.

Over a decade, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire was a household game show that attracted millions of viewers.

The show, produced by Ultima Studios Limited, owned by Olufemi Ayeni, started airing in October 2004 and has various segments including the children’s edition.

Meanwhile, the show sponsor, MTN Nigeria has not released any official statement to explain the reason behind the decision.
