My Charm Failed Me During Robbery Operation – Suspect Laments

A 27-year old man, Sunday Oni, has narrated how he fortified himself with charm when he joined an armed robbery gang in order to be invisible during operation but was disappointed that the charm failed and was arrested in Lagos State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Oni, who is now cooling his head in Police custody, stated he was a scavenger in Ajah area of the state before he was lured into a robbery gang.

In order to become very successful in robbery, he went to his village in Osun State and got the charm from an elderly native doctor.He was asked to wear to charm during operation for protection and to be invisible but he was shocked when the IGP-IRT operatives from Southwest annex led by SP Joe Ugowe arrested him with two other members of his gang.

The suspect, Oni, revealed he had successfully participated in many robbery operations and they specialized in robbing exotic vehicles, which they usually sell at Niger Republic through an agent, who is now in Police custody.

“I am still in shocked over what happened despite the fact I was with my charm, which I used to fortify myself and it failed. If I have chance to regain freedom, I will not commit crime again” he said. 

Oni is among the four suspects in Police custody undergoing interrogation over their robbery activities within Nigeria and Niger Republic including their leader, Adebaba Okonola, a. k. a Tunde, Ismaila Suraju and Niger Republican, Suru Odugbele, who was the middle man between Nigerian and Niger Republic armed robbers.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered Odugbele was said to not only be the driver, who transport the stolen vehicles from Nigeria to Niger Republic, but the key supervisor who gives Nigerian robbers information on the brands of the vehicle needed.

Odugbele was said to have confessed to the Police and mentioned other suspects, who he had been dealing with and how he has been facilitating their payment by supplying them guns in exchange.

On how they were arrested, it was gathered that after the robbery incident, the leader of the gang a. k. a Tunde, has arranged for another operation and on their way for the operation, he was caught at Iyana Ipaja area of Lagos not knowing that Odegbele had already been arrested and when they meet face to face, they confessed and mentioned other suspects.

Exhibits recovered from them included AK-47 rifle, two foreign plate numbers, 5 locally made short guns, 20 live ammunition, cutters, charm and other dangerous weapons.

Police sources stated the suspects will be charged before the Court after the conclusion of investigations.
