My Jesus Christ Character Stood Me Out as A Comedian -Olu-Omopeteru Oluwacomedy

Comedian and On-Air-Personality, Olu-Omopeteru Oluwacomedy came to prominence with his appearance as “Jesus Christ” carrying a cross at comedy shows.

His wittiness and comical skills endeared him to people which have largely helped in growing his fan base.

Born Avoseh Peter Friday at Iwuku-Iseje in Ipokia Local Government in Ogun State, the rising comedian stated that he joined the comedy industry due to his love of making people laugh and be happy.

For his primary education, he attended Iwuku Baptist Days Primary School and had his secondary education at Samnik College, Sango Ota, Ogun State.

He is a graduate of Marketing from The Polytechnic, Ibadan.

His sojourn into comedy started from the church where he makes people laugh at the various events organized by his church, and their response and love for his jokes and craft encouraged him to take comedy up as a career.

Though it was tough starting out, his passion gets him going.

According to him, “it wasn’t an easy ride when I was starting because there was no one to back me up especially financially except God and my church people who believed in me and my talent. My resilience made me keep on pushing on and I’ve been opportune to perform at the Celestial Church most recognized programme in the world, which is Imeko Yearly Convocation and also at the FRESH FM Children’s Day programme which had in attendance several top Nigerian musicians and comedians”.

Speaking about what makes a good comedian, Olu-Omopeteru stated that, “a good comedian must possess the ability to read the crowd and carry his audience along, and should also know when to leave the stage when the ovation is at his loudest.”

He is largely inspired by the scriptures and happenings around him while his role models include the likes of Woli Agba, Gbenga Adeyinka, Broda Shagi among others.

Olu-Omopeteru stated that what stood him out from other comedians is his Jesus Christ character which he uses in entertaining the people and also to win souls for Christ.

He is currently preparing to embark on a summer tour of the United Kingdom where he will be thrilling his fans with his unique style of comedy and will also be performing at one of the shows of Fuji maestro, Wasiu Alabi aka Pasuma Wonder.

Aside from comedy, he is also an OAP and he presents Balelayo with Shina Adegbite on Faaji FM and Kebuyeri on Irawo FM.
