The Director General of Lagos State Sports Commission, Mr. Oluwatoyin Gafaar has sent a warning signal to other participating states coming for the 21st National Sports Festival kicking off in Asaba, Delta State from 28 November 2022 that Lagos State team are battle ready for the competition.

Team Lagos were adjudged the fifth best team of the last Festival, the Edo 2020 held in Benin City, Edo State after winning 126 medals in the course of the 13 days national championship.

This time around, Director General Gafaar is confident that his team would put up sterling performance that will shock the nation in Delta State.

He told P.M. EXPRESS during the final of the 2020 Legacy Volleyball Championship at the National Stadium in Surulere on Thursday evening that he was not just talking from the point of view of being the Director General of the Sports Commission, but he was talking from what he has seen in the athletes that their spirit is raring to go for the kill during the festival, adding that the performance this time around would definitely surpass what they recorded at the Edo 2020.

“Lagos is always prepared; we are ready ever. This festival is going to be different positively. We are going to perform well than what we used to do.

If we aren’t well prepared, I won’t be telling you that we are ready. I have seen the athletes in camp I know that they are ready, and we are all ready. I have all confidence that we are going to perform excellently well in Delta, just mark my words!

“The spirit is high in our camp, and the athletes’ mood is that of someone eager to go to the war to do the state proud. I have never seen them in this spirit before I must confess,” Gafaar said.
