NAOWA President Mrs. Salamatu F. Yahaya Commissions Newly Established VVF Ward At General Hospital Goronyo

The President NAOWA, Mrs. Salamatu F Yahaya, was on visit to Sokoto State from 2nd to 3rd May, 2023. On arrival, President NAOWA paid a courtesy call to the General Officer Commanding 8 Division Nigerian Army, Major Gen. GM Mutkut, where she congratulated him on his appointment as GOC and Sector Commander, Operation Hadarin Daji. 
The GOC appreciated the President of NAOWA and her entourage for the visit and assured of his commitment to NAOWA ideals and empowerment programmes.
On 3rd May 2023, Mrs. Salamatu F Yahaya commissioned the newly established Vesicovaginal Fistula (VVF) Ward in the General Hospital Goronyo.
In her remarks, she said NAOWA, as a gender based association, seeks to provide succour to vulnerable groups and urged women afflicted with VVF to avail themselves to treatment and cure. The Ward, she said avails them the needed seclusive environment needed to enhance treatment.
The President NAOWA was also at Ginginya Barracks, Sokoto, where she interacted with the Nigerian Army Soldiers’ Wives Association (NASWA) members. The interactive session culminated with the presentation of starter packs to 78 graduate trainees of Eagle Nest / NAOWA Vocational Centre Ginginya Barracks.
In her opening remarks, the Chairperson NAOWA 8 Division Chapter, Mrs. Florence Mutkut, appreciated the President of NAOWA for her result oriented leadership style, which is impacting the lives of NAOWA and NASWA members and the barracks community in general.
She stated that the empowerment training was initiated by her predecessor, Mrs. Gloria UU Bassey and she is happy to have the privilege to continue and enhance the NAOWA empowerment programmes by sustaining legacies and upholding the tenets of unity and service. She urged the 78 beneficiaries to make the best use  of the start up packs.
Present at the event was the Commissioner for Women Affairs Sokoto State, Hajiya Kulu Sifawa, Garrison Commander 8 Division Brig Gen T Ahmed and NAOWA Executive Members.
Highpoints of the visit included the presentation of souvenirs,  cultural displays and group photographs.
