National Film And Video Censors Board Endorses Lifanima
Lagos International Festival of Animation, LIFANIMA has received the endorsement of National Film and Video Censors Board, NFVCB.
According to a statement from the office of the Director-General of NFVCB, Dr Shaibu Husseini, the Board commends LIFANIMA “for providing a platform which has contributed immensely to the growth of animation in the Nigerian film industry and being a catalyst for the rapid development of this area of the creative economy”.
LIFANIMA, which has grown to become the second largest animation film festival in Africa is proudly supported by the Embassy of France in Nigeria, National Orientation Agency and Bank of Industry. The festival is endorsed by the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Lagos State Film and Video Censors Board, and National Film and Video Censors Board.
For nine years, LIFANIMA has provided a platform for the development of animation in the country.
The festival now provides a platform for the realization of the national policy on nationalization of cartoon content, while serving as a catalyst for the rapid development of the creative economy.
The festival yearly attracts more than 1,200 submissions from more than 100 countries around the world.
This includes 128 submissions from 25 African countries. LIFANIMA has become established as the premier animation festival in Nigeria and one of the leading festivals on the continent.
The festival features Film Screening and Conversations, Panel Sessions and Workshops, Kids Animation Park, Cocktail Parties and ANIMATION awards, which is given in five categories namely: 3D Animation, 2D Animation, Stop Motion Animation, Animation Commercial and Visual Effects.
The festival has now firmly entrenched Nigeria on the global map of animation film festivals.
